A year of impact: Season’s Greetings

December 18, 2020
2020 was an unexpected year for all. Many of the communities we serve struggled, but we also witnessed a great resilience in the world of impact. This resilience, is what we want to share & celebrate with you as we end 2020 and jump into 2021.

Dear friends,

We think you’ll agree with us: What a year. It’s been tough for every community that we serve. But as we look back, we wish to celebrate some of the good with you.

2020 was the year we launched our third Social Impact Bond in Belgium, structured in a record time of 3 months: BeCode. BeCode defied the pandemic and adapted to continue its important skilling work by welcoming 60 job seekers, of which ⅓ are women. The SIB started receiving part of the € 2.2M committed by investors, which will serve to offer code training specifically to women and immigrants in Brussels over the next 5 years.

In 2020, we also proved the rising importance of impact for traditional investors, by fundraising successfully in a troubled year: HealthQuad, our Indian Healthcare Impact fund, completed the first successful close of its second fund with commitments of more than USD 68 million. And, as you will have heard, our social housing fund Inclusio made history just last week as one of the first impact finance product to enter the stock market .

Finally, we continued to make strides in our focus sectors, namely in areas greatly affected by the pandemic such as skilling, menstrual hygiene management, and adolescent reproductive health. In those, we look forward to working with many of you next year. We have great faith that these partnerships will lead to impactful results in 2021.

We can’t wait to share another year with you, and wish you a happy and safe Holiday Season.
